Product ratings & reviews is integral part of any eCommerce platform. It is crucial for building trust, improving customer engagement, and increasing conversion rates.

How to make the most of rating & reviews:

✔ Use a star rating system (e.g., 1 to 5 stars) to communicate a quick visual summary of customer satisfaction.

✔ Make sure the rating is prominently displayed on product pages (don’t put it too deep in the page or hide behind a button).

✔ Highlight key pros and cons of a product based on the summary of reviews (you can use AI to summarize the data)

✔ Don’t hide negative reviews. Displaying a mix of positive and negative reviews helps build trust.

Every reviews should have the following structure:

✔ Title: Allow users to give a brief title to their review, summarizing their experience in a few words.

✔ Description: It should contain a detailed review text. You can guide users to provide a detailed information by asking specific questions, such as “What are your thoughts about product’s ease of use?” Show questions as placeholder text for description.

Additionally, you can add the following elements to review:

✔ Media uploads: Allow customers to upload images or videos of the product. Visual content often enhances trustworthiness and provides more context.

✔ “Verified purchase” badge: Highlight reviews from verified buyers to increase credibility.

✔ Helpful votes: Let users mark reviews as “helpful” or “not helpful,” and display a count (e.g., “25 people found this helpful”).

✔ Reply to reviews: Allow sellers to reply to reviews. It will help to ask questions, address some concerns or simply thank the author of original review.

✔ Offer “Report inappropriate content”: Allow users to flag reviews that are inappropriate or offensive.

Users should be able to sort and filter reviews:

✔ Allow users to filter reviews by rating (e.g., show only 1-star reviews).

✔ Provide options to sort reviews by most recent, most helpful, highest rated, and lowest rated.

✔ Enable a search function within reviews so users can find specific information (e.g., “size,” “battery life”).

Techniques for encouraging reviews:

✔ Email reminders: Send follow-up emails to customers after purchase, asking them to leave a review.

✔ Incentives: Offer small incentives like discount codes, loyalty points, or entries into a prize draw to encourage customers to leave a review.

✔ Gamification: Consider gamifying the process by awarding badges or points to users who frequently leave reviews.
